DESCRIPTION:
The Ward Cleaver home as it appeared in the 1959- 63 Universal TV series, a cozy family home on very nice residential street, it was originally constructed for the feature movie The Desperate Hours in 1955, and later Universal backlot's "Paramount House" as the Cleaver residence in Leave it to Beaver 1958-1963. All of the houses on the north side of Colonial Street backed up to the Los Angeles River Flood Control Channel just a few hundred feet behind them. This area of the Universal lot was originally known as "River Road," and dated to the silent era. In 1981, Colonial Street was relocated to another area of the Universal lot, and many of the facades, including the Paramount House, were re-assembled there, but in different locations relative to each other compared to their arrangement on the original
