With her unique genre-bending blend of jazz, Hip Hop, R&B, and spoken word, Carolyn Malachi has built legions of fans since the release of her debut project, Revenge of the Smart Chicks. The album, and its rally call to empower women in the arts, garnered so much support, Malachi founded Smart Chicks, Inc. to bring visibility and leadership opportunities for women artists worldwide.

The honors and accolades have piled up following the release of her sophomore project in 2009, Revenge of the Smart Chick II: Ambitious Gods. TheRoot.com recently named her to their "Top 25 Gen Y Artist/Entrepreneur," and the Maryland Arts Council bestowed Malachi, who is the great-granddaughter of legendary jazz pianist John Malachi, with an Individual Artist Fellowship award. The Washington Post describes her infectious gumbo as "Hard to Put in Words," and the Washington Post Magazine hinted at her possible Grammy nomination in its "Our Town" feature.

In 2010, Malachi was selected as an Artist in Bloom Resident Fellow at BloomBars, a Washington-based arts organization working to support and nurture artists across the globe. The residency led to a journey to South Africa, where she performed alongside fellow Artist in Bloom Visiting Resident, and internationally acclaimed recording artist and activist, Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP).
