The Casual Terrorist - "Michel Foucault is my Favorite Skinhead" (live in Newcastle, England) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 05, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Recorded in Newcastle, England, October, 2013.

Lyrics:

"Sometimes it is nice to look back,
other times it can be painful just to look ahead.
When I sleep I feel alive,
when I wake up I feel like I am dead.
My Mum's been cleaning out the garage,
relics from the past hidden in boxes at the back.
And beneath the shit and dust,
she found ticket stubs from punk rock shows;
do you remember when we used to go and dance
at those punk rock shows?
It feels so long ago.
Do you remember that night when that skinhead
with the Skrewdriver t-shirt threatened me with my life?
We should of realised right then that something wasn't quite right.

We were just teenagers looking for a scene,
based upon that naive notion of 'equality'.
Aint it such a fucker when you discover that
it's all based upon slightly altered versions of the same fucking crap? Like hierarchy. Like patriarchy.
Like heteronormativity. Like masculinity.
Like sexism. Like nationalism.
All bundled up in a colourful package of ripped denim jeans,
painted leather jackets, threatening drunken stares
and the politics of fashion.
And the politics of drug use.
And the politics of macho posturing.

So in my garage, in that box right at the back,
I found an old notepad from my school rucksack.
It was dated from 2005.
And on the cover in a biro I had written;
"Punk rock kids 4 life".

I ended up selling that leather jacket on eBay.
Don't have the looks but I have something to say;
I've got a Limp Wrist record on my stereo.
I've got a Bikini Kill record on my stereo.
I've got a Crass record on my stereo
and the only kind of skinhead that I listen to now
goes by the name of Michel Foucault."
