I cannot recall, no I don't know at all
the feel of ground under my feet
Twenty years or more (that) we haven't been ashore
and haven't seen one square or street
This ship is our land, the home of all the bend
and all the booze our hearts desire
But we long for a halt, and no deal of malt
liquor can make for a candlefire.

The captain drowned but we held our ground
against all and any (a) threat
But we quickly lost when at a cragged coast
the devil faced the deck
The headcount holds, but at this hall of woes

For this sorry bunch of topes the Cape of Good Hope
held nothing of the kind.

towns around will welcome us

and by gallons drink the ale

and the skeletons come to dance
