THIS IS A double A SIDE REVIEWS:

PUREGROOVE - Lovely shuffly groove on this charming single from a band we've been digging for some time. Both sides work, and we're hoping they now start to get the attention that's eluded them thus far. A cracker.

ARTROCKER - Anyone who's seen The Bleeps live will know
what a treat they are. Bringing a sound which is both seemingly lo-fi and complex, it always seems impressive that there's just two of them. Both sides work.

CARHARTT - We at Carhartt became instant fans of The Bleeps. Actually we own 'em.

DULL THUD REVIEWS:

Radio1_IN NEW MUSIC WE TRUST Steve Lamacq - 'one of my own obsessions at the moment'

ARTROCKER - It's bizarre how their excellent debut single 'Dull Thud' hasn't yet been picked up in all the usual places as it is a raw and abrasive garage rock version of the artful XX Teens riffs and mutant blues-meets-hiphop Mark E Smith ranting. But these boys look good. . 'Dull Thud' video features street performances of drums mounted on a Skateboard pulled along the pavement. If Black Keys attempted the Gang of 4 songbook they would have come up with this. Arty, rocking and theatrical, theirs is a colourful show for just two !

ROUGH TRADE - The first release from the bleeps is this three track video single. They are a garage-pop band with a focus on massive drums, wired guitars and dirty bass. 'dull thud' is a pretty spectacular two minute blast of post-pixies pop. The track is featured on the forthcoming neon nights mix cd where the bleeps rub shoulders with heavyweight acts like hadouken!, new young pony club and the band on everyone's lips, the gossip.

SHAKE YOUR FIST - Every band has at least one good, ok, at least one decent, song in them. I believe this. I'm sure The Bleeps have more than one (really). I say this with supreme confidence .Get up get up get up!

WHISPERIN & HOLLERIN - It's a bit like getting beaten round the ears with a very tasty slab of 'rrrock' steak. No holds barred, a swaggering swamp monster of a sound. It growls, it pants, it gyrates. It's worthy I tell you. I would say they're a band you need to see live to get a real impression.

THE ORGAN - Dull Thud - Wired garage pop with a little bit of an angular edge and a bite of a confident knowing sharp thud of impact. They're a two piece, apparently they're half a band who we knew rather positively as Father Of Boon. Dirty, wired and awkwardly good.

THE VIEW FROM THE LAKE DISTRICT - Dull Thud by The Bleeps. Rubbish name, good song. That is how the world works.
