The Benz

Chapter 1 The Start. This is The Benz. They are from Liverpool and its surrounding areas. They were brought together by the love of what's boss about life to the average northern lad, football, drink and women.



The band started by getting together after a party. In the beginning there was Michael Marriott (lead guitar) and Chris Jones (vocals). Michael would play whilst Chris would string a couple sentences together. It worked well and they decided to take it further.



Jimmy Marriott was brought in as the drummer, while he was still at school. The beat gave the music some feeling and it sounded good. At first the jamming sessions were an excuse to take an interest in hebal medicines. Looking for ways to expand, a friend of Michael's, with whom he played football, said his brother played the guitar. One practice session was all it took, and the band was beginning to take shape, Mike Smith was in.



Something was missing, a bassist. After several unsuccessful applicants The Benz turned their attention to an old friend who had been there from the start, from the jamming sessions to the first gigs. The will was there and so was the dedication. Richard Riozzi was in.



They are five normal lads, who are sick of working for a living and watching footballers and money men take what they believe should be theirs. Fame and Fortune.



They decided to do something with their lives whilst time was on their side, like so many before them. Theyre here and ready for a relegation dog fight in order to blag, steal and cheat their way to the top. Theres a storm brewing and its of destructive proportions.



The Benz are here and they're here to stay.



Chapter 2. The EVOLUTION OF THE BAND.



Many bands don't make it past their first gig. The BENZ did. After the humble beginnings in a youth centre off Scotland Road, the band progressed. Playing small dives and anywhere they could. They covered the North West towns and cities, not to mention places that many big bands had played at early in their careers. To name a few;

The CAVERN CLUB in Liverpool 100's of times,



CAPITOL, in Glasgow,



BARFLY, London,



THE GRAPES, SHEFFIELD,



THE BLUES BAR, PRESTON,



SOUTHPORT LIGHT SWITCH ON



The band had emerged victorious. 5 normal lads who had never played in a band before. Then times changed. With the times looking hard and all the lads out of work or in shitty low paid jobs the band headed to a rocky road. Tempers were flaring and practice times ran out. Not to mention Chris Jones gathering record companies attention. The bands following dwindled and gigs started to dry up. Hard up for cash and with else on their minds the band began to fall apart. Chris getting signed was bad news for the band as he was never there. Without the lead performer the band would struggle.



Mike and Richard followed out which left the two remaining brothers Maz and Jimmy.
