Ryan Walker and Brian Kent are the constant songwriters and musicians behind the Washington, DC-based project The Beanstalk Library. On their acclaimed local debut AMERICA AT NIGHT, as well as on more recent internet-released recordings, the band has explored classic pop and roots influences and welcomed contributions from other notable DC musicians, including members of Exit Clov and These United States.
The Beanstalk Library has built a loyal following, playing regular shows at DC venues such as Black Cat, Iota, Jammin' Java, and Rock and Roll Hotel, and sharing bills with, among others, Jukebox The Ghost, Field Music, Tapes n' Tapes, Retribution Gospel Choir, Cloud Cult, Cotton Jones, Jenny Owen Youngs, Sera Cahoone, and Illinois.
AMERICA AT NIGHT was released in 2007 and received unanimous accolades from local press, praising the record for its eclecticism and strong songcraft & production, and comparing the band's sound to The Band, Big Star, and Wilco.
