A band from Oppdal (Norway) who have loaded their debut album with a wealth of stunning details. In addition they have a singer you will remember the voice of. With help from Wilco/Elvis Costello engineer Chris Shepard they have made a Rolls Royce sounding record.

Tom Sjeklesæther, Norwegian broadcaster and music journalist, November 2006

Different Strokes for Different Folks, their debut album, was released in Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg on February 28th 2007. The album has received great reviews by critics at home and abroad. Texum toured all over Norway following the the release of the album.

Texum originates from the rural town of Oppdal, situated in sparsely populated country in the middle of Norway. Building their music on the American singer-songwriter tradition they draw inspiration from the No Depression-generation of new country musicians as well as from contemporary rock, vintage soul, blues and country music.

Since their first show ten years ago the band has played more than 120 gigs, and with their soulful and distinct Americana blend, Texum have earned themselves a reputation for intense and hearty live performances.

Different Strokes for Different Folks was produced and recorded by guitarist Dag Håvimb and the band. The record was mixed by Chris Shepard (Wilco, Elvis Costello, Smashing Pumpkins), and mastered by Danny Leake (Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits).

The band is currently recording their second album.

Praise for Different Strokes for Different Folks:

Musiklandet (Sweden):

”A becomingly reserved record, an album the listener will keep coming back to. Time after time. That is because the record is complex, serene and haunting at the same time”.

VG (Norway):

“A little nugget of a warm-hearted and free-spirited album with alternative country-rock that the blessed Gram Parsons would have nodded approvingly toward”.

Rootstime (Belgium):

”Completely timeless music deeply rooted in the country-rock tradition, but not dismissing pop, folk and soul either.”
