Television's second album. This is the UK version on snazzy red vinyl, and the "Limited Edition" 12" single of "Foxhole," also no red vinyl.

No one knows what to call Television. They were in and of the punk scene, geographically and chronologically, but their music was in no way punk. Some have used the term protopunk to describe them . . . I don't think that works very well, but clearly they aren't postpunk, either. Television is one of those rare bands that truly does put the lie to any easy classification of their music.

Unlike most of their contemporaries of the scene and time, Television were more restrained yet more adventurous. More structured and yet more improvisational. More, and yet less than the punk scene around them. It makes them important, challenging, and thrilling.

While Adventure didn't have the impact of Marquee Moon, the band's debut, that was inevitable. Adventure is solid but just not quite as stunning as the earlier album. After all, the "shock of the new" is pretty much a one-time thing.

I give this album an A- only because that's in comparison to Marquee Moon.

The album was released in 1978, so, "Television" and 1978 seemed like a good choice for a visual theme. Thus the pictures are of TV sets from 1978 and popular TV shows from that year. The title slides are just the song title and the word "artwork" put into Google Image Search.

The versions of the songs on the 12" single are identical to those on the album. I included the audio of them simply for authenticity and completeness.
