Biography: SWINGFLY

Some cats just become everybody's favourite pet. There are a few, select artists who have enough energy, inventiveness and cool to make pretty much everybody swoon, despite what musical quirks they try out.

Eclectic hiphop-electro-rock-pop wizkid Swingfly (a.k.a. Swing or Richie Pasta) grew up in the metropolis turbulence of New York, and has spent time in the salty Caribbean nations of Trinidad-Tobago and Panama. These days the Fly buzzes between the Big Apple and the musical epicentre of Stockholm, Sweden. Who knows, maybe it's Swing's world city influence which makes him possess that indefinable urban cool that many desire but few master.
Whatever the reasons are, Swing travels effortlessly between straight-up hip hop, rock'n'roll anthems, smooth r'n'b and electro pop, always with instantly adhesive, larger than life choruses that forces everyone to sing along. Swingfly is an MC of the old school: He masters his hiphop essence, but loves the hooks of a smoking rock song. Once you're exposed, you're hooked. If you thought Outkast were kings of euphoric hiphop and popnb, think again: Swingfly will rhyme you into a state of bliss and beatbox you into oblivion, all the while melting your heart with infectious tunes.
So no wonder that some of the hottest producers and artists have been knocking on his door for the last ten years so. You want a list? Swingfly's musical resume is basically a who's who of swedish dancefloor busters and producers: Kleerup, Teddybears, Ebbot, Ram Pac and Sidewalk are just some of the more recent collaborations. In addition, Swing's music has been in more films and ad's than you can count, and in 2007 asian pop-darling Tony An's Korean version of 'Singing That Melody' made the entire nation of South Korea faint in summery euphoria!
Take our word for it, Swingfly is no rookie. Since the 90's, he has jumped in and out of projects, worked with legends like Gordon Cyrus and Christian Falk, lent his savoury rhymes to several hit songs as well as been a part of the revered, jazz-flavoured r'n'b collective Blacknuss Allstars.
If you have listened to just about any radio station the last couple of years, you'll know what we're talking about. Whether it be the everlasting stomp-hit 'Hey Boy' from 2004's Teddybears collaboration, the swinging rock-rap smash 'Winner' (feat. Ebbot of Soundtrack Of Our Lives), the sweaty, swinging electro-hit 'Something's Got Me Started', or the warm friday night anthem 'Singing That Melody', Swingfly has proved he doesn't just command the microphone – he owns both the airwaves and the charts.
As opposed to a lot of other artists, Swing's longevity on the scene has become the opposite of stale and tired. When Swing's first solo album hits us in February last year, it is with a fresh breath and a hot beat. Produced with the aid of the Åhlund borthers (Teddybears, Ceasars, Britney Spears), Kleerup (Robyn, Titiyo) and Thomas Rusiak (Petter, Ken etc), the self-titled debut lives up to it's masters voice: Swingfly - master of ceremony, regent of rhymes, shaker of butts - commands your every move on the dancefloor. Swing forbids you to switch radio channel, and whips the soundsystem 'til all sense and restriction is forgotten in a flurry of smoke.
We dare you to find a more electric, catchy, heavy soul savior in 2009. All hail the club king!
