Bio
Howard Who is a Stockholm based producer/dj and the man behind most of the tracks on Adam Tensta’s award winning debut album “It’s A Tensta Thing.” He creates new music with vintage equipment. In reviews of the album, which was awarded a Grammis (Swedish Grammy) for best hiphop/soul/R&B album in 2008, critics write that the sound: “Embraces Euro disco, Electronica, House and Pop that resembles Pet Shop Boys.”

Rolands. Akais. Korgs.
Somewhere in a tiny, cluttered 1960s style apartment in Södermalm, you will find Howard Who, his MPC 60, a bunch of drum machines, a few analogue monsters and his old collection of dusty records, creating music at odd hours. It’s hardly New Order, but it’s his order. Howard Who’s sound is a crosspollination of Euro Pop, hip-hop and futuristic electronica and he is totally sold on wobbly bass-lines, glitching noises, snappy snares and dusty samples. His goal? Howard Who aims to create something new with equipment music creators have used for at least a solid 30 years.

As most producers, Howard Who has had his fingers in more mixtapes and remixes than he can count, the latest “Same Blood Compilation” with J-Son, a 2010 Grammis nominee. Howard Who is responsible for the official remix of Money Brother’s Born Under A Bad Sign and the 2009 remake of Area Turns Red, a huge hit and a response to the xenophobia that plagued Sweden in the mid-1990s.

Twist
To Howard Who’s surprise, artists seem to fancy work he’s long finished. [He’s either before his time, or the sound of Howard Who gets better as it matures, like good wine.] About four years ago, he had this track that he really liked. Upon listening Adam Tensta said, “No thank you!” Two years later Dopeboy was released as the fourth single off Tensta’s album and became an instant hit. What was once a trance sounding dance track, had transformed into a big-drum room-filling rap tune about stereotypes. Howard is still trippin’ on this one.
