Real Wild Child - History of Australian Rock N Roll (1/8) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 23, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Compilation of videos contained on ABC Media Services Real Wild Child interactive CD ROM from 1997. The CD used cutting edge technology for its day and was compatible to play on low powered PC's of the era, including Windows 3.1 through to Windows 98 as well as the equivilant Apple MacIntosh PC's of the same vintage.

The video clips contained on the CD ROM were a mixture of low quality Apple Movie files (MOV.), varying in quality from 240 x 180 pixels at 10fps to 640 x 480 pixels. As a result the upscaled merged videos here are of a similar low quailty.

The graphical artwork included Reg Mombassa (pseudonym of Chris O'Doherty), a New Zealand born artist and musician. Resident in Australia, he is as well known there for his musical exploits — founder and former member of the popular Australian band Mental As Anything and member of Dog Trumpet (alongside his brother Peter O'Doherty) - as he is for his art. Worldwide, he is perhaps better known for his irreverent designs for surfwear company Mambo Graphics many of which were later adapted for use in a segment of the Sydney 2000 Olympics closing ceremony.

In Reg's words he is inspired by "the wind, semi-professional birthday clowns, heavy machinery and the behavior of domestic animals".
