DESCRIPTION:
Emil Hurtuk Band - Trumpet: Cosmo Carrozza , Trombone: Peter D, Drums: Tom Ragerio, Accordian and Vocals: Emil Hurtuck When I became a father, I had to move into a predominantly Slovak neighborhood for financial reasons. It was then and there that I auditioned for the first band I could find, which happened to be a Slovak band. The leader of the band, Emil Hurtuk hired me right away and I ended up doing many ethnic gigs with him. These included among others, Slovak, Polish, German, Russian, Yugoslavian and Hungarian dinner dances, weddings, anniversaries and carnivals. The same type of Slovak band with a vocalist that sings in the Slovak language is so unique, that we played jobs as far as New York City and New Jersey. Believe it or not, our one and only competition was a band in Chicago. The job seen in this video called for four men, so we were minus our sax and clarinet player who is an excellent musician and arranger, second to none.
