Susan Holland was born in 1957 in London. Her
father was a mixed American Indian and Affro-Carribean
Baptist preacher, her mother from Ireland.
Susan began her prolific artistic career at an early age and
attended at the Arts Educational
School in London
where she studied ballet and acting. This led her to
performing a lead role in the English National Ballet as Clara in
the ‘Nutcracker’ on several occasions. During this time she also made some
small film and television appearances and did some modelling work too.
At the age of thirteen she went to stay with her father in
Michigan USA where she began to sing Gospel songs at religious ceremonies.
Very unfortunately at the age of 17 her father committed suicide and Susan returned to England
to start a new life and develop her musical career. She studied at The
London Academy of Music and collaborated with Professor Richard Stoker and
created some Jazz Albums. They performed a tribute to Hoagy Carmichael at the
Purcell Rooms as well as other venues. Susan continued to perform cover
singles nationally and worked with a number of bands but at the same time
continued to write her own material from experiences from her rugged and
tortured life.
In 1994 Susan
formed a group which got together to work on and perform her own material in
the London venues. Unfortunately
Susan suffered a double Cerebral Haemorrhage
which she fortunately survived and continued performing after her
recovery. It was during this time that she developed a taste for alcohol
which unfortunately opened the door for ‘Crack’ to enter her life. This was a
terrible time in her life which she recognised and admitted herself into
rehab. She successfully completed her rehabilitation programme and was
able to leave behind her bad habits.
On 5th of August 2001 her body was found in the back garden of the hotel that she
was staying in. Under very suspicious circumstances she had fallen from the
fifth floor.
“Great forces from above bless
and protect her soul.”
