Sadie At The Backdoor at Nancy Yerkes home - Video

DESCRIPTION:
We were over at Nancy Yerkes place for a bit of a party, Becca, Susan Fawcett, and I, playing old time tunes, singing songs, and telling lies about past fishing successes. Becca reminded us of a night over to the Wheatland Music Festival a few years ago. It was colder than it had a right to be for September, and at about 3am the outside session broke up and we found ourselves with 4 or 5 musicians inside our sit on the pickup truck camper. They were all females with guitars, mandolins, banjos and fiddles, and me crunched in and stuck up in the corner with my fiddle, sitting in the sink. Someone called for Sadie At The Backdoor, a contemporary Missouri fiddle tune about a kitten that would only leave through the front door, and return only through the back door. So, we were all throwin' down on this tune when Becca starts meowing through the 2nd A Part. We thought that was great, so we all started doing it. Two weeks later, us members of Hawks and Owls string band found ourselves booked on Main Stage over at the Earthwork Music Harvest Gathering, where Becca reminded us of that night at Wheatland, and our meowfest. So, we worked it back up with some added guests and meowed the crowd. We just got to get it down pat in harmony.
