Colorado River Canoe Trip - Glen Canyon, Arizona - May 25-26, 2014 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 28, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Video of our canoe trip down a portion of the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam to Lee's Ferry, Arizona. It's a gorgeous location and, despite it being Memorial Day weekend, we had the river nearly all to ourselves. Starting at the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, we skirted the Navajo Nation then drove through an alien landscape on Lee's Ferry Road to Lee's Ferry, the last put-in spot on the Colorado River for hundreds of miles, caught a motor boat from Colorado River Adventures to back-haul our canoe up near the dam, then took two days to float the 16 miles back to Lee's Ferry. Along the way we viewed Fremont Indian petroglyphs, camped at Horseshoe Bend, explored a side canyon, investigated the sunken ruin of the Charles H. Spencer (a small turn of the century paddle wheel steamboat), and just generally enjoyed awesome and beautiful solitude floating beneath the canyon's magnificent 1,000+ foot cliffs. An unforgettable couple of days.
