DESCRIPTION:
Die stem van Suid-Afrika is the former national anthem of South Africa. It is sung in the Afrikaans language which is closely related to the Dutch Language. This video shows both the Original Afrikaans lyrics and a Dutch translation. I tried to keep the Dutch version as close as possible to the Afrikaans original which is in some ways less accurate because the meaning of some words are no longer the same.

It's easy to see the striking resemblance between the two languages as well as some recurring differences such as the different grammatical systems (Dutch: wij, onze, ons vs Afrikaans: ons) and orthography (Dutch: ij vs Afrikaans: y)
