Roy Santiago has a new band, called the Doo Run Run. We are told that there are five of them, four lads and a lass and that they specialize in the sort of bittersweet bubblegum pop that used to hold sway back in the days when young men wore frayed cord loons and Albert Ross teeshirts...music beloved of thinking types who also dug Bigstar and the Modern Lovers. So far so good. But take note. Don't be fooled into thinking that Santiago's music can't hold its own nowadays. Of course it can. The Doo Run Run's sound has enough ingredients to pack a punch: wobbly Casio runs, clanging guitars, sardonic vox and a Jalopy beat... it's all there for your delectation.
