For the first and only time in the history of South Indian classical (Carnatic) music has a musician recorded or performed a varnam in 15 different speeds by precisely dividing each beat into different pulses. This technically complex and musically challenging concept of pancha nadai-s in application to varnams was first pioneered by the legendary violinist/singer Prof. V. Lakshminarayana, father and guru of Dr. L. Subramaniam.
