livingroom.fm Stadtmusik Festival 2012

As Summer moves along, we like to point your eyes and ears towards festivals that stray as far as possible from the mud, tents and jocks formula in the likely places, and few fit this requirement quite like this one. Running all through August and into the first week of September, livingroom.fm takes over the courtyard and surroundings of Basel's art museum, transforming it into the setting for a musical jamboree. The one month extravaganza called Stadtmusik Festival unites live radio colliding with live bands for a mixture of interviews, performances, and dance floor bustle. The music ranges from the manifold shapes of electronic music to the non-academic outskirts of new music. Adding to this physical presence in the city, livingroom.fm broadcasts live on FM 106,6 throughout the north western end of Switzerland. So if you've been doing your math, this makes it a triple whopper of festival, temporary radio station and arts project.

And while reflections on progressive thought are at the core of all this, this is as much food for your hips and feet as it is for your brain. The crew behind livingroom.fm have been working on making it a month long celebratory party, with the line-up featured so far artists like Africa Hitech, Robert Glasper Experiment, The Gaslamp Killer, Dego (4Hero), Mike Slott, Taylor McFerrin, Skymark, Dimlite, Lefto, Omar, Wajeed, Hyperdub's Morgan Zarate, Electric Wire Hustle, Little Dragon, Theo Parrish, King Britt, Thomas Brunner, Onra, Fatima, Appleblim, Floating Points, Benji B, Lone,
Arthur Verocai, Azymuth, Shabazz Palaces, Royalty, Psychemagik, Dâm Funk, The Greg Foat Group, Dimlite & Julian Sartorius, Ben Hereth, Peven Everett & The Greg Foat Group, Flako, Marcellus Pittman, San Proper, Awanto3, Truth is Light, The Avalanche Quartet, The Stepkids, Wbeeza, Morgan Geist, Todd Terje, Move D., Dean Blunt, Inga Copeland and Lusine, turning Basel into the hottest place to be in August.
