DESCRIPTION:
Palookastan is a newly-formed noise-bash trio employing advanced improvisation strategies carried out on found, circuit-bent, re-purposed, and otherwise violated instrumentation.

Tom Djll (electronics, trumpet) studied music at Berklee School of Music, the Colorado College, the Creative Music Studio, and Mills College and is the recipient of a Masters degree from Mills College in Electronic Media as well as a "Deeploma" from the Deep Listening Organization. He has spent over twenty years developing the trumpet's wide sonic array of extended techniques. His musical language incorporates complex noises and gritty, unheard textures from electronica into melodic gestures and building asymmetrical formal structures.

Jacob Felix Heule (electronics, percussion) is a percussionist and electronic musician focused on sound-oriented improvisation following the traditions of electro-acoustic improv, noise, and 20th-century composition. His playing embraces both rough-edged intensity and disciplined instrumental technique. As an acoustic musician, Heule employs diverse techniques to activate the sonic potential of physical objects, usually drums and cymbals. The primary content of his music arises from this heightened awareness of the physicality of sound -- vibrating material objects creating air pressure waves.

Matt Chandler (electric bass) has developed a sound-based approach to bass guitar in both improvised music and avant punk bands like Didimao and Strip Mall Seizures.
