Michael Stern, Music Director | Schubert's Ninth Symphony and Gil Shaham - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 30, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Music Director Michael Stern discusses Franz Schubert's magnificent Ninth Symphony, one of the greatest orchestral works of all time. Kansas City Symphony performs Schubert's Ninth on May 31, June 1 and June 2. In addition, the great violinist Gil Shaham returns to the stage to perform Alban Berg's haunting Violin Concerto, dedicated "to the memory of an angel." In keeping with that sentiment, the concert also includes Carl Ruggles' Angels for muted brass. The concerts take place in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are available at kcsymphony.org or call the Symphony Box Office at (816) 471-0400.
