Artist Biography: "Die Mortuus Est Amor's music was born from the distilled tears of jokes that were too serious for laughter. The central character in these songs of emotional disintegration is Leith Carnie (of Shit-House Elves, Mekigah, t.k. bollinger and that sinking feeling, Dadirri).
Hailing from Sydney's Blue Mountains, Carnie crafts songs that, like surgery, cut into the tumour of traumatic emotions.
For much of the time of this album’s conception and birth, Leith was homeless and living on the kindness of friends. Travelling with his laptop, instruments, mics and memories he has managed to create a suite of post-industrial ambient metal that is a testament to the redemptive power of song and it’s ability to transform despair into new found strength.
DMEA is quite a departure from Carnie's previous solo project, Shit-House Elves - which was a frenetic collection of tounge-in-cheek social commentary, driven by the pounding force that is industrial metal.
In stark contrast, the sensitivity and thoughtfulness behind the lyrics and composition of this album showcases Leith's versatility as a studio musician as he wends through the landscape of atmospheric rock (Abandoned, Weakness, Anger), smooth industrial pop (Sickly Sweet), instrumental ballads (Inadequacies, Reflections, Lament) to the haunting and singular timbres of Failure and Too Late. Undistracted by genres and labels, Carnie has written, performed, and produced an honest and unique body of work that promulgates a whole new side to contemporary, independent Australian music.
With a tip of the hat to the aura of such dark luminaries as VAST, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle, but in no way imitating their sound, this album opens new ground on the fringes of the fields where life's darkness reaps a sad beauty.

Footage filmed over 2 days with lots of trespassing.
