Spike Heatley Quartet with Art Themen - Fleece Jazz 16 May 2014 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 07, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Spike was celebrating over 7 decades in the music business with this tour, and Fleece Jazz was delighted to welcome the quartet to our club. With Spike on bass were Art Themen (tenor saxophone), Andy Williams (guitar) and Malcolm Mortimore (drums).

There are two songs on this video, both written by Spike.

The first was written while waiting for a colleague to show up for a rehearsal, and is called "Waiting for David".

The second, starting at 7:34, is "Knock Down Ginger", which he says refers to his very young days and annoyed neighbours.

The still photography is by Peter Fairman. Gerry England was the live sound engineer, and the music was recorded by Dave Lyons, who did the video.
