Speedball Baby was a seminal NYC band featuring vocalist Ron Ward (Blood Oranges), guitarist Matt Verta-Ray (currently of Heavy Trash and The Oubliettes), bassist Ali Smith (an accomplished photographer and one half of The Oubliettes), and a couple of different drummers including Martin Owens, featured here.
In this video shot for MCA Records, this little seen recording of "Hip Devil Shake" is a live recording "work-in-progress" that eventually became "Pocket Fulla Fish", released on the band's album "Uptight" (In The Red Records, 2000)
