Welcome to a true Midnight in Paris concert, so take a trip along the Seine! Debussy evokes the absinthe world of poet Paul Verlaine with his impressionist Suite bergamasque. Milhaud's raucous La création du monde is heard here in the composer's piano quintet version, its faux jazz intoxicated with strings. The steamy eroticism of Ravel's Chansons madécasses is followed by the French romantic passion of César Franck's Quintet.
