You will notice my latest recordings are home produced. I have decided to revert back to the old ways to capture the real essence in my material. The recording process has been one of pressure, loss of control and unatural environments.



It is terribly difficult to communicate exactly what you hear in your mind, feel in your heart, want of the soul. While the technical intrusion can be beneficial, the involvement of other human beings in the production of a song is always going to be tricky and prone to compromise. I compromised, partly for denial, partly impatience, but soon found myself grovelling back to my babies, my original demos. I related to them in ways I failed to capture in the studio. I need space, privacy and most of all full control when it comes to my solo work. In the cellar on my own, I can really get what I want, and I rarely do more than one take because it was real to begin with. The emotion is truest in the earliest takes and I have a habit of liking the first take the best!



This is not to say I am not open to further studio recording, but for now I am happy, iwrongly or rightly, to communicate to you in the only way I truly know how to.
