Hi, I'm Dr. SaxLove, and I know from experience that people love music that is soft, mellow, romantic, soothing, and relaxing; music that helps them relax and stay calm while they work, study, eat, sleep, and chill out.

That's exactly what this video is all about. I've created a playlist of some of my most mellow songs and have added the sound of a gentle rainstorm in the background. The combination of the rain and the music make this video hypnotically soothing.

You'll notice that some of the songs in this video are my versions of pop tunes, which I like to refer to as "pop jazz". For example, I especially love this version of "Ain't No Sunshine". It's probably my most popular song overall. I also particularly love this version of "Summertime". It has a loping, mysterious feeling to it that really thrills me.

But some of the songs in this video are my original compositions.

"By Her Side" is a song that I composed to commemorate the relationship my wife had with her dearly departed dog, Keima. Keima was an amazing dog-being, very very supportive and intuitive; really a great friend to her. And of course he was always right there, by her side. I get a little tearful when I think about how close they were.

Nearing the end of his life, when we knew his time was almost up, we took him with us to one of our concerts and brought him onstage, introduced him, and told his story to the crowd. He got lots of applause and lots of people were crying with us. Afterward, everyone gathered around him and loved him up - it was quite emotional and powerful. Keima was a great dog, and "By Her Side" is for him.

"Tan & Sandy Silence" is the name of a John D. MacDonald novel that features one of my (fictional) heroes in life, Travis McGee. MacDonald wrote a long series of books featuring McGee, and if you like mysteries, adventures, beautiful people, exciting times, and heroic deeds, you'll love these stories.

One night, soon after we met, my wife and I were up in the middle of night eating blackberries and I was telling her about how, quite often, I notice that there are little songs playing in my head. "Like this one" I said, and I wrote down on a handy piece of paper the melody that was currently looping around in my brain. That song became "Blackberries" and you can see that piece of paper here if you want to: https://markmaxwellmusic.com/saxual-healing .

Finally, "Always" is a song I wrote that doesn't have any deep meaning or interesting stories attached to it. It's just a nice song, and the first two notes of the melody always make me think of the word "always" for some reason.

Enjoy the music and the rain, and be at peace.
