Honeywell TC89B1018 (TC89B Contractor Model) Smoke Detector - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Alarm 2 of 4 from my 3-part unboxing haul
In this video, I show a rare NIP contractor-model TC89B featuring some differences from the retail model.

This smoke detector was made by Honeywell, Inc in 1977. Model TC89B was a battery powered model designed to go along with their popular AC model TC49A. This model was included in a mass recall by Honeywell in the early 80's when they discovered that the units may sound when tested with the button but not when smoke is present. That's one of the reasons why these are so rare today because Honeywell offered a return and replace for all affected units (they mentioned they handed out replacements by BRK and First Alert/Smoke Alert). This unit is the contractor model, catalog 1018, which was sold directly to contractors building homes which is why its packaging isn't anything fancy. It features an Edwards squealer horn unlike the more common retail model 1000. Also has some other slight differences as well. This model is definitely very cool and rare, and is one of my favorites.
