Ernesto "Chico" Alvarez Peraza is a native New Yorker specializing in Cuban dance music. Chico was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Cuba. He has been performing as a singer throughout the New York City tri-state area for the last four decades. Chico has been director of several bands and orchestras including his well known ten piece conjunto "Mafímba." He is also the host of the radio program the New World Gallery, a weekly music show which airs on Sunday afternoons on WBAI Pacifica Radio (99.5 FM). He was a staff writer for Latin Beat magazine and his written works can be found online, via latinjazznet.com. Currently he lives in northern New Jersey. Throughout the years, Mr. Alvarez has been the recipient of many awards, among them a special recognition from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters. During his twenty two years on the air, he has interviewed a broad range of artists, from Andres Segovia, Tony Bennett, Ben E. King, Dizzy Gillespie to Tito Puente, Cachao Lopez, Celia Cruz and Chucho Valdés.

Mauricio Smith, Jr., was born in Panama and currently resides in New York City. At age 15 he was already a sensational flutist. He studied music at the National Conservatory of Panama, and in addition, he studied with several great musicians/composers like: Professor Eduardo Charpentier, Roberto Pitre, Mauricio Smith Senior and many others. His influence in music and flute was from his mentor and father, who gave him his teaching and guidance for playing, but Mauricio's passion and energy is his own, which is evident in his personal style and his performances. Mauricio is also a member of the popular Charanga band Tipica Novel.
