DESCRIPTION:
Psych-folk duo and new collaborative project New Bums consist of Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) and Donovan Quinn (The Skygreen Leopards). Both prominent names in what's sometimes referred to as the "New Weird America" movement of the early 2000s and now just good friends, Donovan and Ben are currently sharing songwriting and performing duties for their new project. They are getting ready to release a full album of material via Drag City in the beginning of next year, but so far they have only released a single on 7" vinyl of "The Killers and Me," which they performed for their Shaker Steps session.

We met up with New Bums at the North Limestone Community Development Corporation's Shotgun Houses project on York St. The vision of this project being affordable housing for artists and makers who can both live and work from these very affordable houses currently being renovated. Shaker Steps and NoLi CDC hosted a "pop up" show for New Bums out in the back yard. We filmed this session in one of the houses the next morning before their long drive back West. Enjoy!
