Bio:

The Skoidats are a melange of Ska, Oi!, Jazz and Punk with a contemporary sound rooted in the old school Ska tradition of Baba Brooks, the Ethiopians and the Skatalites.

Unlike many Ska bands, the Skoidats sound varies greatly from song to song, pleasing Oi! fans as well as traditional Ska fans. It is rare to see someone standing still at a Skoidats show as their energy is impossible to ignore.

The Skoidats formed in the summer of 1995 in Helena, Montana. Soon after their inception, they relocated to Missoula, Montana, losing two members in the move. After arriving in Missoula, the three original Skoidats placed an ad in the paper to find a new horn section. It was soon answered by two members of the University of Montana marching band. They were the first and only horn players to be auditioned. Since robbing the University of Montana marching band of two members, this five piece has toured the country four times and played with such bands as the Slackers, the Bluebeats, the Insteps, MU330, Mephiskapheles, the Blue Meanies, the Allsonians, the Scofflaws, Let's Go Bowling, Inspecter 7 and the Skatalites.

Current Status of the Skoidats:

as told by "Blacky Shamrock"

The Skoidats broke up in 2001. They've been broken up ever since and will remain broken up forever. Nothing is more certain than that. The lowdown on each Skoidat, to the best of my knowledge:

Justin (guitar/vocals)- Recently moved from Montana to Oklohoma for school. (Jeremy sees him from time to time!)

Chris (bass) - Living in Texas with his wife.

Gardner (drums) - Living in NYC and bartending at a club in Noho.

John C. (trombone) - Living in Paris, France with his wife.

John K. (sax) - Living in Sweden with a Finnish womanor Finland with a Swedish woman.of Norway with a Finnish woman.or Sweden with a Norwegian woman.something like that.a really white country with a really white wife.

Mark Hutchinson (trumpet, recorded w/ Skoidats, member of i7) - still living in Helena, MT with his son.

I'm trying to get Mark & Justin out here in March to record a track (that they wrote) on the second Hub City Stompers album. Hopefully that pans out.
