Six by Seven - For You (Later with Jools Holland '98) - Video
PUBLISHED: Jul 29, 2013
DESCRIPTION: Unfairly overlooked drone rock band from the late 90s (http://last.fm/tag/drone%20rock/wiki). Six. by Seven are what shoegaze would sound like if britpop never happened and the decade was spent listening to Skullflower in a narky haze. First album is fantastic, a cross between krautrock (hate that term) and early 90s space rock (this track's fairly atypical, songs are longform and hypnotic with sax and leftfield guitar); Second album is fantastic and sounds like a cross between Joy Division and the Stooges, a partner-in-crime with the same year's Xtrmntr by Primal Scream. INDEED~! it was left to Scotland and places like Nottingham (where these gents are from, Pitchshifter too) to help drag the country out of the stagnant Britpop doldrums.
