Formed in 2007, Ferriswheel is the new instrumental project of montreals pianist Mathieu Charbonneau (Torngat) and guitarist Simon Trottier (Nicolas Bernier, White Noise Ensemble).
They recently recorded 9 original compositions with the graceful help of recording engineers Mark Lawson (The Unicorns, Beirut, Final Fantasy) and Marcus Paquin (Torngat, Bell Orchestre). Mostly composed for acoustic guitar and piano, the duo is joined on the record by: Pietro Amato (French Horn), Pierre-Yves Martel (Double-Bass), Josh Zubot (violins), Annie Dominique (Bass Clarinet) and Julien Poissant (drums).
The result is a beautiful blend of musical genres hinting classical piano, folk fingerstyle guitar and indie rock. Their work is influenced in parts by John Fahey, Gonzales, Tin Hat and John Zorns Bar Kokhba.
Our records can be mail ordered from this site, bought at shows or from Atom Heart (364 rue Sherbrooke Est) and Cheap Thrills (2044 Metcalfe) in Montreal.
