SWEET JEAN is Sime Nugent and Alice Keath. Their music is lush, melodic, honest, and full of charm. Since forming in late 2010, Sweet Jean have built a reputation for their evocative songwriting, razor-sharp harmonies, and stirring live performances. As the AU Review put it, Sweet Jean "can break your heart one minute and mend it the next. The duo has a natural ability to transport their audience to the heart of their songs."

Sweet Jean's debut album Dear Departure will be released on July 4 2013. Co-produced with John Castle (Washington, Bamboos, The Drones, Vance Joy), the album is a collection of stories and reflections by Sime and Alice about life, longing, misadventure and mortality.

Sweet Jean explain, "when we first starting writing and playing music together we were driving around listening to people like Karen Dalton, Dock Boggs, Feist, Lou Reed, and Dusty Springfield, wondering how to combine our love of dark, raw folk music with the depth and excitement of our favourite newer records. Our aim was to create a detailed and carefully arranged album that still had a loose, airy, open sound. We already had more than enough songs for an album, but it wasn't until John came up to us after a show and pretty much exactly described the sound we'd had in our heads, that we were on the road to making what eventually became Dear Departure."

Sweet Jean's debut single Shiver and Shake was "Single of the Week" on iTunes, and was included alongside The Scissor Sisters and The Flaming Lips in Germany's Süddeutsche Zeitung's "Top 5 Songs to Kick Off 2012.
