Gnotes

Gnotes is an underground hip-hop producer and MC from Seattle. His most recent album, Rhymes And Beats, was released through Gnawledge Records in 2007.



Since its release, Rhymes And Beats has been charting across the United States, peaking at 25 on the CMJ Top 40 Hip Hop charts. 2008 brought Gnotes and Canyon Cody to Granada (Spain) to produce Granada Doaba, an instrumental hip-hop experiment inspired by Andalusia's vibrant history of immigration. Granada Doaba follows the converging paths of flamenco + Arab music, with tributary contributions from Cuba, India, Japan and Boombap. Based on Canyon Cody's 2008 Fulbright sponsored research project into the international roots of southern Spanish music, Granada Doaba uses sample-based hip-hop to explore the history of intercultural collaboration in Andalusian music. After 5 months in Spain co-producing the album, Gnotes and the Gnawledge Records familia embarked on a 5 week European Tour that included shows in Spain, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Holland, & England Back stateside, Gnotes recently moved from Boston back home to Seattle to complete his upcoming solo project Conflicts And Interest.

Gnotes has recorded and performed around the world, including shows in Europe, Latin America, a 2005 U.S. national tour with Seattle's NocOnWood records, and a 2007 Pacific NorthWest tour with Devin the Dude. He as also shared the stage with various noteworthy hip hop acts including Ghostface Killah, Trife Da God, Coughee Brothaz, Glue, Louis Logic, Wise Intelligent, Elemental Zazen, Qwel, Pack FM, Tonedef and Cunninlynguists, amongst many others.
