Award winning Siani are three young, fresh and talented female vocalists whove been singing gospel since they can remember. The group was formally started nearly two and a half years ago, and they have now established themselves as front-runners on the UK Gospel circuit, with their distinct contemporary RnB Urban sound, likened by some to Mary Mary and Brandy.
The girls started out performing at church concerts and taking part in competitions, doing cover versions to popular songs. They soon learnt that the way forward was to write their own material. Their first single sold 2000 copies on the back of live performances and gigs they performed at. They released a follow up Single and an enhanced EP with equal success.
Siani also sing for one of UKs leading Gospel choirs, Kyra, who have their own independent record label Kyra Melodies. Both Siani singles (We Aint got no and Missin U) plus their enhanced CD The Corner, were produced under the umbrella of this label. The group have just finished their album having worked with some of the UKs leading producers including Linslee Campbell, Miss Cherokee, Antoine Stone, Adrian McKenzie, whiteboy, Chris Brooks and Ibe. The album is due for release May 2004
All three of Sianis CDs have received acclaim from the Gospel and mainstream fraternity alike. The tracks are being played UK wide by the likes of DJ Bigger (Solar Radio &Blues and Soul Magazine), Trevor Nelson (Radio 1), Steve Sutherland (Galaxy FM), Schoolboy Phillips (Capital Radio), Hurdle White (BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Radio West Midlands), Dave P (Choice FM Radio), Grantly (Fusion Radio and Talk Gospel on Sky Digital), John McPherson (BBC Radio Sheffield), Kirk Anthony (Choice FM) to name a few. The group have been featured and reviewed in the national press by people like, Amina Taylor (Music Editor Pride Magazine), Tony Tomlin (New Nation) Marci Dixon (The Voice Newspaper), Pete McIntyre(International DJ) and DJ Bigger(Blues & Soul Magazine).
Siani have performed extensively up and down the UK and completed European tours to Belgium, Holland, Germany and South Africa. They appeared at Birminghams white Pearl Suite alongside Misteeq and Damage and have supported a number of charity events including Executive and Professionals Network (EPN) 2nd Annual Ball and Men of Merit events alongside singers Omar and Mica Paris, raising funds for Black Cancer and Sickle Watch. As well as appearing on national television, Siani have performed for the former World title boxer, Nigel Benn, at his home. They have also performed at Europes Largest Student Festival, ACFEST, and at Europes largest soul and Dance music Weekender at Southport. In addition, Siani have also appeared alongside USAs best selling Gospel artists Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond and Trinitee 5:7. In addition, Siani have appeared alongside 2 of Jamaicas reggae legends, Junior Tucker and Carlene Davis.
Siani took the Blues and Soul Urban Music Award 2002 and 2003 for best Gospel Group and also took the Gospel Entertainment Award 2003/04 for best group and were 2004 MOBO nominees. The girls are causing major stirs in the UK, USA, Europe, Africa and Australia. The group was nominated in 5 different categories for the Oasis-Awards and the latest tracks The Corner and Get up on the floor have gone to number one in both the Blues and Soul Magazine Hip List Chart and also the Urban Essentials Magazine A List Charts. Tracks The Corner and title track to the forthcoming album Love Is have been play listed on BBCs 1xtra. Sianis Love Is track has also reached number one in the Blues & Soul buzz chart and has been playlisted on UKs leading R&B/Hip Hop Radio station, Choice FM, making record of the week on the Morning Vibe going out to 270,000 listeners. Sianis first video is being played in the UK, Texas, Australia and S. Africa.
Having completed an eight state US tour in 2005 Siani embarked on their live unplugged DVD project which is the first project of such a kind within the realms of UK Gospel. This DVD is receiving rave reviews and is bundled with lots of extras including the Love Is music video, exclusive group interview and a discography of all music tracks done by the group.
Siani have been crowned the Queens of UK Gospel by the National Press and have become leaders in their field by making serious in roads into the Music Industry with high quality Urban contemporary Gospel which is being taken note of Worldwide.
