Shlomi Shaban, Hebrew Rendition to Leonard Cohen's 'Take This Waltz' feat. Raa'nana Symphonette - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 06, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Shlomi Shaban needs little intro to Israelis, but if you don't live here, well, he is an Israeli singer/ songwriter and a gifted pianist (and guitar player too).
He's also a huge Leonard Cohen admirer and often plays Hebrew renditions to LC's songs in his concerts.
Last week, Raa'nana (city) Symphonic Orchestra held at a concert celebrating Giuseppe Verdi's 200 years birth anniversary with the Opera di Verona; alongside the obvious classics, modern interpretations were played, one of them was 'Take This Waltz' with Shaban on the piano accompanied by full symphonic orchestra glory, conducted by the young Israeli Maestro, Omer Welber.
Cohen fan that I am, as the sound of the first accords, my iPhone was called on duty.
Extraordinary to my very biased ears, hopefully wonderful to objective ones too.
(If your opera savvy ear hears a bit of La Traviata's 'Drinking Song in the background', it's not a mistake ;-).. )

שלומי שבן בביצוע מרהיב ל"קחי את הואלס" של לאונרד כהן, יחד עם סימפונט רעננה.
