DESCRIPTION:
Filmed at the Wits University "Free Peoples Concert" circa 1986. A South African country & western protest song, would you believe. Tighthead Fourie and the Loose Forwards, featuring Los Ballas Trios appeared for a few short years in the dark days of apartheid and disappeared as mysteriously as he had come on the scene. It was hard work being a country singer of conscience in apartheid South Africa, because apart from the attendant heartache and hard times of the regular country artist to write songs about, you also have to address the suffering of the multitudes.
Tighthead was recorded by Shifty Records around that period, but most of that music only exists in the archive. We hope to bring some of it out into the open shortly. Keep an eye out at: http//www.shifty.co.za
