How to scat a minor blues with Sheila Jordan - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 02, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Judy Niemack leads a master class in how to scat on a minor blues. The track, "The Count Is Back," comes from Judy's new book/2CD pack "Hear It and Sing It: Exploring the Blues" and features jazz master Sheila Jordan trading two-measure phrases.

In addition to Judy, the vocalists in the video are Rachel Bronstein and Christine Sullivan. The rhythm section (on the CD): Jeanfrançois Prins (guitar), John Webber (bass), Victor Lewis (drums).

"The Count Is Back" is Judy's lyric version of Johnny Griffin's "Blues for Dracula," originally recorded by Johnny and Philly Joe Jones on Jones' Riverside album of the same name.

Judy's "Hear It and Sing It!" books are available from local and online music stores and HalLeonard.com (http://bit.ly/Q9x5UU). For more exciting new vocal jazz repertoire, with accompaniment-only tracks for easy practicing, visit the Singers' Corner at jazzleadsheets.com (http://bit.ly/SOwuWH).
