Sharrie Williams RIP Tribute.wmv - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 22, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
RIP was written, as a dedication and appreciation to the great ones who paved the way through this musical journey, they made it possible for the gift of music, to be expressed through rock, gospel, jazz, and blues all over the globe, and this song pays respect to all of them that have gone home to be with the Lord.
On December 17, 2010 I was in a recording session and had just started to lay down the vocal tracks for RIP, when I received a call from Tony Rogers to say that my very dear friend Robin Rogers had passed away. You cannot imagine the sorrow I felt as I hung up the phone. My emotions went crazy; Robin and I shared so many hopes, prayers and dreams together. And to lose a great friend, is like losing a blood sister. Robin was BESS, my blue eyed soul sister. How was I going to finish this recording session, after receiving such devastating information? My engineer Dave Goodermuth, said "Sharrie why don't you put your feelings on paper and lay it down on this track". Dave drove all the way from Pennsylvania to Saginaw Michigan, just to record my vocals at my church, and he was not about to leave Michigan without completing this CD project. With the strength of God, I was able to pull myself together to finalize not only RIP, but the entire CD, Out Of The Dark. I dedicated the second half of this song to Robin Rogers. She is sadly missed by all of us, along with all of the Blues greats that have gone home to be with the Lord. We love you and miss you all, with all due respect RIP.
