DESCRIPTION:
Strut Records' second collection of 12 inch mixes, classics, and rarities from the dance-ier side of the Factory Records catalog, Fac. Dance 02, is out now. To mark the occasion, we've unearthed some exclusive footage of Shark Vegas performing the Bernard Sumner-produced track "You Hurt Me" live in Berlin in the mid 80s. Performance footage from the Berlin outfit is hard to come by, and this is a real treat.

From the album's liner notes:
Shark Vegas were an electronic group formed by Factory's German representative, Mark Reeder, who recorded 'You Hurt Me' at Conny Plank's studio in Cologne, with Bernard Sumner producing. The group had previously supported New Order on a European tour in March and April 1984. "'You Hurt Me went virtually unnoticed in the UK," says Reeder, "but it became popular around dance clubs and gay discos in the States." Reeder began his music career as bassist in The Frantic Elevators with Mick Hucknall, and worked at the Virgin store on Lever Street. Inspired by German pioneers such as Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder and Tangerine Dream, he quit Manchester for Berlin in 1978 and formed a synth duo called Die Unbekannten. Reeder also posted electronic mix tapes to Sumner, which played no small part in setting New Order on the path to 'Blue Monday'.
