Seth Anderson Bio
Truth Inspired Folk Rock with an Edge.
There's a quote I read about Seth Anderson I need to share. " The Renegade Kid will make you want to ditch that salary and fancy sports car, and live the life you've dreamed of since you were old enough to defy your parents". I share this first because from what I know about Seth, that is exactly what he did to pursue this crazy life as a musician and artist. What he creates is, "Straight –shooting, it's liberating, it's a hang on type of sound." The love child of a three way between Social Distortion, Wilco and Neil Young comes to mind when you hear him play.
Seth grew up in rural New Brunswick and was safely ensconced on the traditional path, playing hockey at the University level and aspiring to be become a school teacher when he changed his focus. Or rather life changed his focus for him. Seth is a musician and a wanderer and it was about time he followed his path. Now 6 years later, living in Canmore, Alberta, with 3 albums under his belt Seth is finding the peace and inspiration he fought so hard for.
With his first two albums – "Late Night Renegade" (2006) and "Refuge at Trail's End" (2008), Anderson received nation wide industry praise. Alberta based Producer/ Sound Engineer Steve Loree teamed up with Seth on Refuge at Trails End, and is returning for his third album titled "Rocky Town Heartache". The recipient of a Rawlco Radio 10K20 Recording Grant, Seth was fortunate enough to have some fabulous musicians to work with including Greg Carrol on bass, Paul Paetz on drums and percussion, Charlie Hays on pedal steel, Steve Loree on lead guitar, Tanya Kalmanovitch on viola and violin, and Joanne and Haley Myrol, and Lorne Moncref on back up vox. inK. Music Promotion and Publicity has also come on Board to promote this newest release.
A true artist Seth finds his surroundings and his friendship rich with stories to tell. "Rocky Town Heartache" is the tale of a relationship from beginning to end and is set for release the beginning of 2011. The featured songs, recorded in the chronological order that they were written, present a story of personal evolution and natural reaction, uncontrolled and pure. Anderson never stays put for too long. He feels "off" when he isn't touring and so Seth plans to cross the country supporting his latest effort in the heart of winter. Anderson has a solid 300+ shows under his belt. He's travelled the back roads of this country more times than he can remember and has been fortunate enough to do a six-week stint of the United Kingdom. During his travels Anderson has shared the stage with the likes of Matt Anderson (international Blues man), John Brooks (nationally Nominated Folk Musician) and countless other road warriors. Asked what he's learned on the road Seth replies, "Confidence in my music, and a sincere belief in people". The music industry can be a tough game but Seth has seen the best of people on the road. He's also honed his multitasking skills, accomplishing feats of driving, switching tape sides in his cassette deck, making peanut butter sandwiches and sticking his head out the window all at the same time!

It all sounds pretty great right. It is… if you call 4 years of life on the road, friends made, stories told, gear lost, band mates come and gone and countless hours in the studio simple. Hell when you are this good and this committed you just don't stop. Expect to see The Renegade Kid around a corner somewhere near you……strumming his guitar.
