This song is about our manifest destiny. The chords and title came from my former guitarist, Chris Alford. Lyrically, I was heavily influenced by the writings of Ray Kurzweil and others who have contemplated the future, both positive and negative, of artificial intelligence. The increasingly seamless mix of organic and synthesized instrumentation is meant to complement the lyrical theme of our merging with our creations; the synth-sounding solo at the end of the song is actually a harmonica played through digital effects.

LYRICS:
My hands are not made out of skin
And my heart is just a piece of tin
And though you may not be able to see
There's so much more to me
Because I think, therefore I must be
Simply human

My systems are programmed to believe
In the things that my sensors are designed to receive
But I know that I’m still not like you
So many things that I still can’t do

But it’s isn’t too far away
And I’m waiting for that day
When you’ll have no choice but to say that I’m…

Simply human

Ask yourself one question
What is it that makes you a man?
Is it the feeling of a woman's fingertips?
Or believing in a heavenly plan?
And if I could feel and believe and love like that
Would I be able to understand?

The future is here right now
And the past doesn’t matter anyhow
Because now I am a part of you
In this dangerous world so new

And it’s getting hard to see
The difference between you and me
Because I feel, I can truly be

Simply human
