Sam Amidon comes from a family steeped in music. His parents Peter and Mary Alice Amidon are folk musicians and Amidon junior was exposed to a broad palette of sound as he was growing up. So it's perhaps unsurprising that he's pursued a career in folk music. What sets his approach apart from many others of his ilk, is his process. Amidon deconstructs traditional folk songs and imbues them with a fresh energy.
