The percussion group SAFARA was founded in 1993 by the Senegalese Ass M'Boup. It is a typical African percussion group with musicians from Senegal and Dancers from Senegal and Switzerland. In "Wolof", a language they speak in West Africa, SAFARA means fire. SAFARA are playing ancient traditional African rhythms, rhythms played in Africa since hundred of years. All the musicians playing for the group SAFARA are Griots. That means, that they all are born in traditional African Musicians Families. That's why they are used to play drums since their childhood. On stage SAFARA are playing on their traditional African drums like Djembe, Sabar, Doun-Doun, Tama and much more. Even the Kora isn't missing. This wonderfull spectacle is accompanied by traditional African dancers and a dancer on "Chakadas".
