SINOPSIS / SYNOPSIS

Miguel Poveda acaba de cumplir 40 años y se encuentra en el ecuador de su vida. Recientemente fue el aniversario de sus 25 años sobre los escenarios y ante tales acontecimientos decidió hacer algo especial, el que posiblemente fue su concierto más ambicioso hasta la fecha.
A lo largo de los meses en los que se fue gestionando este evento desgranamos quién es Miguel Ángel Poveda León, la persona tras los focos, un hombre celoso de su vida privada que nos abre las puertas de su casa y su familia para que conozcamos sus orígenes. La historia de un chico que teniendo todo en contra para triunfar en el flamenco, payo, catalán y sin tradición familiar logró a base de tesón y mucha afición abrirse un hueco hasta llegar a convertirse en uno de los referentes actuales.
Recordaremos momentos que ya forman parte de la historia del flamenco como la inauguración de la Bienal de Sevilla de 2010, la presentación de arteSano en el Teatro Real y el último concierto en vida de Chavela Vargas entre otros, y todo esto acompañado de otros grandes artistas como Serrat, Mª Dolores Pradera, Rodolfo Mederos, Joan Albert Amargós, Enric Palomar, Chicuelo, Martirio, Carmen Linares, Moraito, Matilde Coral, Luis el Zambo… Una vida dedicada a la música en un documental imprescindible.

Miguel Poveda just turned 40 and has recently celebrated 25 years on the stage. For this occasion, he decided to do something special. He arranged his most ambitious concert so far.

During the months when this event was being planned, we found out who the true Miguel Angel Poveda Leon is. We discovered the man behind the lights, a man very conscious of his private life who opened his home and his heart and shared his family, so that we could get to know where he comes from. This is the story of a Catalonian payo with no flamenco family roots that, even when he had everything against him to become a flamenco artist, he managed to gain a foothold in the industry, due to his hard work and perseverance until he became one of today’s most relevant voices of flamenco music.

We will go through some special events which are nowadays part of Flamenco history, such as the 2010 Seville Flamenco Biennial Festival Opening, the premiere of arteSano at the Royal Theater in Madrid and Chavela Vargas’ last concert. Very remarkable artists have participated in this project with Miguel: Serrat, Mª Dolores Pradera, Rodolfo Mederos, Joan Albert Amargos, Enric Palomar, Chicuelo, Martirio, Carmen Linares, Moraito, Matilde Coral, Luis el Zambo… A life dedicated to music protrayed in this essential documentary film.
