A wonderful, HAPPY song for my Grandfather who recently passed away Saturday May 11 2013.
This song was released when he was a wee boy but I remember hearing Papa's little radio late into the night- when I was a child- and he would have it tuned in to 98.1 WBRF. a great little station from Galax Virginia. That station still plays all kinds of old tunes to this day! I loved the quiet of my grandparents house and those summer evenings. Windows open. A breeze here n there. But the sound of Papa's little radio...wow... And-I dont know what he thought about music in general but I know he enjoyed the old time stuff . He also liked Hank Williams (Sr) and other "classic" country & folkie-like tunes. I miss those days. I would give anything to go back but- Im sure my Grandfather is smiling his biggest , warmest smile right now! And Im sure he hears songs we cant imagine. But lets hope we can hear them too someday. I believe in these kind of things. My Papa made his peace in the end and passed peacefully. He accepted the mysterious side that we all wonder about. He is happy. I know this. He wanted to be out of the pain and into a better place. He said so.
