Having dipped into their huge pool of musical resources Rocket have shot-out-the-water this year leaving our senses rattled and gasping. Hailing from the Borehamwood and Finchley backstreets, they fuse intricate progressive rock with delicious helpings of acoustic blues, intelligent songwriting, energy and dynamism. Lead vocalist Jamie Gordon whips up a crowd and takes them through his vast melodic landscape with songs that meander through styles and registers, whilst the musicianship of lead guitarist Dan Yefet, bassist Andrew Tenzer and drummer Adam Lucas match such variety and skill from start to finish. It's music that makes complete sense but still surprises us, Rocket are full of contrasts, undulations, flair and honesty. Not to be missed.
