Section Three: Elemental Explorers. The Hunter College High School Senior Jazz Ensemble, performing "Shakshouka" by Sam Mellins
Sam Grunebaum (piano), Olin Hayes (vibes), Nick Katz (bass), Sam Mellins (saxophone) Yoni Nachmany (saxophone), Ryan Park-Chan (saxophone), Julian Rosenblum (drums). Comprised of students in grades 10-12, the Jazz Ensemble is a collaborative of some of New York City's finest young improvisers. The musicians explore classic and cutting-edge repertoire as well as original compositions and arrangements penned by ensemble members. The award-winning ensemble appears regularly at various events and venues in New York City, as well as international performances in Spain and Hungary. Robert Sabin has conducted the Ensemble since 2004.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
